Raleigh Yeldell, III signed a letter of intent to play football for Newberry College last week during national signing day. Raleigh was joined by his father, Raleigh Yeldell Jr., his mother Francis and his sister Nicole for the ceremony. As the quarterback for Strom Thurmond High School during the 2011 season Raleigh threw for almost 1700 yards and 20 touchdowns. The multi-talented quarterback also rushed for nearly 900 yards and 13 touchdowns. Coach Lee Sawyer believes that Newberry will be a good choice for Raleigh. “They were the first to offer him last year and they stayed with him right up to signing day,” stated Sawyer. Reports indicate that Raleigh will be joined by two of his former teammates next year at Newberry. Former Thurmond High stars Martinez Gallman and Jonathan Williams are also becoming Newberry Wolves.
