Anderson Named School Superintendent

Anderson Named School Superintendent

The Edgefield County School Board voted unanimously Tuesday, Mar. 27, to name Edgefield County School Board Attorney Greg Anderson as the new Superintendent for the county’s schools.

While Mr. Anderson has been named Superintendent and does have authority at this time, he has not actually assumed the position yet. According to a source close to the school board, there is expected to be a transition period before Mr. Anderson takes over. Mr. Anderson’s contract has not yet been determined, and since he is the school’s attorney, an outside source will likely be chosen to negotiate the contract. In addition, the school board will probably be seeking a new attorney with Mr. Anderson’s acceptance of the Superintendent position.

In a recent interview with The Advertiser announcing his decision to seek the Superintendent position, Mr. Anderson, who does have a law practice in Edgefield, said if he was chosen to be the next Superintendent, he would leave his law practice to devote his time to serving the children of Edgefield County.
