Farmers’ and Artists’ Market: Johnston Farmer’s & Artist’s Market continues every Thursday afternoon from 4 – 6 p.m. in front of the Library on Calhoun Street.  You will find many fresh vegetables to enjoy before frost comes to our area along with turnips and sweet potatoes.  Artists offer handmade jewelry, prints of buildings in our area, and note cards.

Election Day Closing: Piedmont Tech will be closed Election Day,Nov. 6. Normal business hours will resume Nov. 7.

Fall Family Fun Day: Johnston Pentecostal Holiness Church will have Fall Family Fun Day on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. Special guest will be Jim Deal who will present a gospel illusion program This There will be food, prizes, fun and the gospel story in a very unique way. The public is invited.

Relay for Life Kick-Off: The 2013 Relay for Life Kick-Off will be held at Strom Thurmond High Cafeteria on Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. This will also be a night of awards for the 2012 year teams and sponsors. The Fine Arts Department of Strom Thurmond High will also present The Wizard of Oz.

Veterans Day Program: Johnston Elementary School invites all veterans to participate in our Veteran’s Day celebration on Friday, Nov. 9. Veterans will be treated to a light breakfast at 7:30 a.m. followed by a parade at 8:00 a.m. The program will be held in the gym immediately following the parade. Thank you for your service to our country. We look forward to seeing you on November 9.

Fill the Van Food Drive: Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Food Bank Ministry will sponsor a “Fill the Van Food Drive” Nov. 10, from 8 a.m. to noon on Pleasant Grove Church grounds. Bring 6 canned goods or 6 dried food goods(macaroni, pasta, etc. ) and receive a free hot dog and drink. Help stamp out hunger this holiday season.

Thanksgiving Distribution: Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will have its annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution, Nov. 17, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 8 – 11 a.m.

Veterans Day Program: On Sunday, November 11, at 3:00 p.m., on the Town Square in Edgefield, a Veterans Day Program will be held. There will be guest speakers and singers.  All the veterans in our area, their families, and the public at large are invited to attend. Nonveterans bring your own chair. Veterans will line up at 2:30 p.m. in front of the Edgefield Advertiser to march in with the NJROTC. 

ECCHO Program: ECCHO Unity Fellowship will be held Sunday, Nov. 11,at 6 p.m., at Edgefield First Baptist Church,with Rev. George L.Brightharp, speaker and special music. Everyone is invited.

Hospital Bake Sale: Edgefield County Hospital Auxiliary Fall Bake Sale will be held Friday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. with jams, jellies, preserves, pickles, cakes, breads, and cakes and 2 gift basket raffles. The public is welcome.

NWTF Turkey Burn: The NWTF is hosting a turkey cooking contest on the Edgefield town square Friday, November 16. Register to compete for the title and bragging rights of the best turkey frying recipe at the inaugural NWTF Turkey Burn. Registration fee is $100 and includes one turkey plus the use of one table and two chairs. The grand prize winner will receive a trophy and $250.
