Edgefield County SC Works Center Not Closing

The Edgefield County SC Works Center remains open despite the announcement that Unemployment Insurance (UI) staff will no longer maintain office hours there.

Rumors have circulated that the entire Edgefield SC Works Center was closing. This is not the case, and services for job seekers and businesses will continue to be offered at the Edgefield office.

SC Works Center staff is available to assist with job searches. Workshops and networking groups are held each week at the center. Internet access and computer labs are also offered.

The Department of Employment and Workforce recently announced that it has changed the way it offers Unemployment Insurance (UI) services for residents of Edgefield County and some other counties in the state.

Unemployment Insurance claimants and employers can access UI services online at www.dew.sc.gov. Also, if inquiring about your benefit history and you require a print out, it may be possible to fax a request for a printout. Printouts are mailed/emailed within 48 hours.

You may call a nearby office for further UI assistance, including the Greenwood and Aiken county SC Works Centers.
