Sherriff’s Office Busts Gambling Establishment

According to a report filed the by the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, Mar. 1, the agency, along with officers from the SC Law Enforcement Division, executed a search warrant at R&J Diesel on Edgefield Rd. for suspicion of illegal gambling machines.  Once inside the location, law enforcement officials found 11 video poker machines and 4 computerized pinball machines, all of which were seized.  Officials also confiscated $6074.50, an ATM, 2 firearms, a television, and surveillance cameras and equipment.

Two Trenton residents, were arrested for possession of illegal poker machines and for operating a gambling house.  A North Augusta man was also charged in this incident for unlawful gambling, as he was found playing the video poker machines when deputies arrived.
