Melvin Stokes

JOHNSTON, S.C. – Mr. Melvin Stokes, 89, of Weaver Rd., husband of Lucille Johns Stokes, died Tuesday at Agape Hospice House in Columbia.

Graveside Services will be held Thursday May 23, 2013 at 11 A.M. at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Edgefield, S.C.

Mr. Stokes was a native of Kershaw, S.C. and was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. He was the retired owner of Johnston Building Supply.

Survivors include his wife, 2 Sons- James Leonard (Cherevz) Stokes, John M. (Harveen) Stokes; 2 Grandchildren- Christopher (Lisa) Stokes, Kevin (Farah) Stokes; and 2 Great-Grandchildren- Chandler and Landon Stokes.

Memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1178 Greenwood, S.C. 29648-1178.

The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
