Ninety Six National Historic Site Schedules Weekend Programs

96NINETY SIX, S.C. – From now until September 29, Ninety Six National Historic Site will offer free programs on the weekends.  On Saturdays at 11 am, a guided walk of the battlefield will occur.  At 2 pm on Sundays, a talk will be provided at the Logan Log House.  Every third Saturday 10 am – 2 pm, through September 21 reenactors will gather at the Logan Log House for Living History Days.

The Saturday guided walks will begin at 11 am and last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.  Covering a distance of one-mile, the level of difficulty is easy to moderate. The tours focus on military aspects including the Siege of Ninety Six.  The 2 pm Sunday talks at the Logan Log House emphasize civilian life in the backcountry and will last about 30 minutes.  During Living History Days, reenactors talk about backcountry living and demonstrate a variety of skills and trades such as spinning and weaving, cooking and baking, medicine, and 18th century games. Living History Days are scheduled for July 20, August 17, September 21 at 10 am – 2 pm. Come out and join us for a summer full of educational and fun opportunities!  Park Superintendent, John Slaughter says, “The weekends bring alive the amazing history of Ninety Six National Historic Site.  Come take a step back in time to experience life during the American Revolutionary War in the Backcountry. Your back yard is full of history just waiting to be discovered!”

In March the visitor center hours were reduced until further notice. The visitor center is now closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays with the exception of July 4. The visitor center is open 10 am to 4 pm, Friday through Tuesday.  Visitors may still tour the park dawn to dusk.
