Children’s Books Campaign: County Council Chairman Dean Campbell has designated the Friends of the Edgefield County Library the Chairman’s Charity of the Year.  Donations to the Chairman’s fund will be used by the Friends to purchase books for children for the Edgefield, Trenton and Johnston libraries.  The campaign lasts through the end of September. Please make out checks to Friends of the Library and mail to the Edgefield County Public Library, 105 Courthouse Square, Edgefield 29824.

Doughnut Sale: The Cosmetology Class and Club of Strom Thurmond Career Center will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts at The Heritage Jubliee Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28 @ 7:00am. Those purchasing a box of doughnuts will receive a free cup of coffee and nail polish service. Please come out to support our group. Homecoming: Mountain Creek Baptist Church, 108 Mountain Creek Road,Troy, will celebrate its homecoming, Sunday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m. Veterans and family members of veterans will be honored.  Dinner will be on the grounds with beverages provided.

Abney Family Singing Ministry Anniversary: Sunday, Sept. 29, at 5 p.m. at Bland Baptist Church. Everyone is invited.

Talent Show & Silent Auction: Edgefield United Methodist is having a talent show and silent auction in the church fellowship hall on Sunday, September 29, at 5 p.m. A variety of talented participants will perform and display their arts, crafts and baked goods. The public is invited.

BBQ Chicken Dinner: Johnston Pentecostal Holiness Church will have a BBQ Chicken Plate on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at $7 per plate.(BBQ half chicken, potato salad, cole slaw and bread).

Barr’s Chapel Service: The Fall Sunday afternoon worship service at Barr’s Chapel Methodist Church will be held October 6, 2013, at 4 p.m. The Rev. Alan Quarles will be the guest preacher. The church is located on Barr’s Chapel Road just off North Martintown Road. Everyone is welcome.

Harvest Festival Pageant: Miss Harvest Festival beauty pageant will be held on Saturday, October 19, at Ridge Spring Civic Center at 10:00 and 3:00. Young ladies between the ages of birth-20 are invited to compete. The Miss (17-20) will be awarded a scholarship to the college of her choice. The deadline for applications is Wed., October 9. Class Reunion: The 20 Year Reunion for STHS Class of 1993 will be held on November 2, 2013 at 7pm at the Pine Ridge Country Club. The cost is $50 per person or $90 per couple.
