Kidnapping Call in Johnston

The Johnston Police Department responded to a possible kidnapping call Tuesday night, Sept. 10.  According to Investigator Lamaz Robinson of the JPD, who spoke with The Advertiser the following day, a Water Works Road resident called 911 around 9:00 Tuesday night to report that her grandson had been kidnapped.  Inv. Robinson said the woman stated she had received a call demanding $300 for his release.

The 24-year-old victim was ultimately found on Johnson Street.  He relayed to officers that 5 males had held him at gun point.  According to his story, the men forced him to strip and then to call his grandmother with the ransom demand.  The man stated he was beaten and “pistol whipped” by the men but, eventually, was able to escape his captors.

One arrest has been made in this case.  According to Inv. Robinson,  a 23-year-old male from Johnston, was arrested Thursday and charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and Assault and Battery 1st.  Three other men are being sought in connection with this case.  Inv. Robinson said warrants have been issued for 2 males, both of Ridge Spring.  They are being charged with Assault and Battery 1st and armed robbery.  The fourth suspect in this case has not yet been formerly identified.
