EDGEFIELD, S.C. – Mrs. Nell Covar Shaffer, 80, of Edgefield, wife of Melvin S. (Perk) Shaffer, Jr., died Tuesday January 28, 2014 at Edgefield County Hospital. Graveside services were held Friday, January 31, at 2 P.M. at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Edgefield.
Mrs. Shaffer was a native of Edgefield and was retired manager at Hardees in Johnston, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Maggie and Clint Covar.
Survivors include her husband; one son- Richard (Wendi) Shaffer of Edgefield; two daughters- Gayle (Philip) Dorn and Cissy ( Merlin) Penner both of Edgefield; five grandchildren Jaime Shaffer Creasy (Michael), Lauren Dorn Enloe (Micah), Greg Shaffer (Shannon), Samantha Timmerman, and Kara Timmerman Booth (Alex); and eight great-grandchildren Morgan, James, Reagan and Ryann Creasy, Elizabeth Enloe, and Kameron, Parker and Tyler Stampley.; a special family friend- Charlie Turner.
She was predeceased by a son Terry Shaffer, sister Louise Rearden and brother Raymond Covar
