Sophie Mae Adams Johnson Bowman

EDGEFIELD, S.C. – Sophie Mae Adams Johnson Bowman, the wife of Deacon Johnny J. Bowman, Sr., died on Saturday, February 15, 2014, in Trinity Mission and Rehab Center.

She was a housewife and a member of the Springfield Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess and a member of the Senior Choir.

She is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Minister Daniel (Jacqueline) Johnson and James (Margie) Johnson both of Trenton, SC; stepson, Johnny J. (Joan) Bowman, Edgefield; daughter, Brenda Robinson, N. Augusta, SC; four step-daughters, Julia Bowman, Maryland, Willie M. Bowman, and Clementine (Jimmy) Behlin, Columbia and Essie (James) Nicholson, Edgefield; brother, Willie (Francis) Adams, Washington, DC; sisters, Beatrice Mance, Earline Scurry, Johnnie Lou (Otis) Yeldell and Rosa Lee Mosley all of Edgefield, SC and Pernell (William) Gray, Neese, SC; grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Springfield Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
