Tommie Williams, Jr.

JOHNSTON, S.C. – Deacon Tommie Williams, Jr. 71, transitioned to glory on February 6, 2014 at Saluda Nursing Center with family at his bedside.

He was a member of the Mt. Calvary where he served as a Deacon and other church affiliation. He served as a mechanic downtown Johnston for 30 years. He was a nationally known recording artist with the Singing Stars of Johnston, SC.

Survivors includes; his wife, Barbara Cothran W. of the home; 3 sons, Dennis W. Gartrell, Johnston, SC, Ernest T. (Julia) Williams of Augusta, GA and Tommie Lee (Melette) Williams of Quantico, VA; daughter, Tammy Williams-Johnson of Johnston, SC; 3 brothers, Joseph (Nancy) Williams, Ejustus (Helen) Williams and George (Dorothy) Attaway all of Johnston, SC; 4 sisters, Julia Etta (Henry) Bush and Mattie W. Key both of Johnston, SC, Eunice (Donald) Turner of Columbia, SC and Carrie L. Attaway of Hephzibah, GA; 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and other relatives.

Funeral services will be 12 Noon Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 700 Church St., Johnston, SC, with burial in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Public viewing will begin Monday, 2-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
