Shamrock Run/Walk is March 15

So far, March 15 looks like a clear, green day. If you have not registered yet for the 11 a.m. walk/run, late registration is at Bi-Lo, Saturday, between 9 and 10:45 a.m. The fee is $20.

If running is not your thing, come and enjoy the festivities on the square starting at 10:45 with our Leprechaun parade. This year our Queen of the Leprechauns is Charlotte Cheatham. Calvin Henderson and Jane Herlong will be M.C.’s of the race,

You have a chance to win $50 if you are picked as the best dressed Leprechaun and we will have Irish music, cotton candy, free face painting and more. Don’t forget our Drunkin Dunkin Leprechaun Booth. One dollar a throw to dunk our favorite locals.

For the young there is an Irish Bouncy Castle and the Leprechaun Lap (no fee) for ages 7 and under at 12:30. Registration will be on the square (non-competitive race, must sign waiver). The Irish Tug of War has been replaced by Irish Arm Wrestling. There are five categories, a fee of $1 and a waiver must be signed. If it is a hit, trophies will be awarded next year for the strongest man or woman.

Look for specials at our local restaurants: Edgefield Billiard Parlor – green beer, Park Row Market – corned beef and cabbage, and our new Carolina Moon Distillery is featuring Irish Water.

Hitchcock Healthcare will be on the square to meet and share the importance of physical therapy.

Winners will be announced at 1 p.m. with, also, “the pick of the popsicle stick.” The runners/walkers have an extra chance to win gift certificates from local businesses (must be present for the drawing).

Finally compliments of Derrick Equipment and Clemson Extension there will be transportation to bring you back to Bi-Lo to your car. Amen.
