Sweetwater Baptist to Host Wild Game Supper

Sweetwater Baptist Church will host their 8th Annual Wild Game Supper, Saturday, March 8, starting at 5:00.  This year’s event will feature Hank Hough, Dan the Animal Man, and King’s Cause.  Hank Hough, of Kingdom Dog Ministries from Spring, Texas, will be showcased at the adults’ service.  He will use his black labs to teach Biblical and life principles.  In the children’s area, Dan the Animal Man will have several of his critters on hand to teach creation.  Last year he brought a 7ft. alligator, an owl, a porcupine, and a lemur.  There will also be photo opportunities with the animals.  King’s Cause will provide the musical entertainment for the event.

Not just geared toward men, the game supper is described as “a family affair”  by Brian Ayers, the church’s Youth Director and Coordinator of the event.  It is free to the public but a love offering will be collected.  Also, the church will be accepting non-perishable food donations to its benevolence closet from which it feeds families in our community every week.  In addition to the wild tastes such as squirrel, deer, flounder, and raccoon that will be served, the more tame dishes of hotdogs and chili will also be available.  There will also be bounce houses and a movie for the children.  Additionally, the church wishes attendees to know that all of the volunteers for this event have passed a nationwide background check.  And, of course, there will be plenty of prizes given away at the supper.  This year Ayers estimates there are $15,000 in prizes to be given out including a stripper fishing trip for four and a golf cart.

The wild game supper is not all about food and games, however.  “It’s a chance to introduce people to Jesus’ love,” said Ayers.  Last year, the event hosted nearly 1800 attendees, and this year they expect more.  People come from as far away as Alabama, Florida, and North Carolina to enjoy the night.  And it is not just about reaching the lost either.  For those who already have a relationship with Christ, it is “a chance to be encouraged and loved on.”  “We just have a good time,” said the youth director.

Sweetwater Baptist Church is located at 198 Sweetwater Road in North Augusta (Edgefield County).  For more information about this event, you may call the church at 803-279-2821.
