Anna Mae Holmes

EDGEFIELD, S.C. – Mrs. Anna Mae Holmes, of Edgefield, wife of the late C. Raymond Holmes, died Wednesday May 14, 2014 at University Hospital.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday May 17, 2014 at 2 P.M. at Eastview Cemetery in Edgefield. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Holmes was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna West. She was the Oldest Member of Antioch Baptist Church and was a retired Secretary having worked at the Edgefield School District, the Senior Citizen’s Council, and the Edgefield County Hospital. She enjoyed needlework, cooking, gardening, camping, and traveling. She was devoted to her pets and enjoyed pet-sitting for special friends. She attended a monthly breakfast with a cousins group and loved family gathering and celebrations in her sister’s home where she spent her childhood. She was known for baking “Snoopy-cakes” for special occasions. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and generosity.

Survivors include 1 daughter- Diane (Barry) Groce; 2 Grandchildren- Carlen Groce, and Jason Groce.; 1 Sister- Jewel (Carol) Seawright; a nephew John (Charlotte Ann); nieces Mary Wade, Judy (Marion) Hope, and Lynn (Robert) Visbisky; Great-nieces Anna Wade, Caroline Visbisky, and Grace Seawright; great-nephews John Visbisky, James Seawright, and Graham Hope.
