ETV’s Palmetto Scene Looks At S.C.’s Newest Laws

June 24, 2014…ETV’s Palmetto Scene will take a look at several new laws on Thursday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to a legislative season and runoff elections wrap-up, the program will discuss:

  • Emma’s Law, which was formed in response to a young girl who lost her life in an alcohol-induced automobile accident. This new law requires all drivers who receive a DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of .15 or higher to install an ignition interlock device on any vehicle/s they drive for a period of six months.
  • A new state-wide ban on texting while driving that allows officers to ticket offending drivers.
  • New legislation that allows those with doctors’ notes to purchase cannabis oil for the treatment of epileptic seizures.
  • An initiative known as Fix Our Roads that is bringing citizens and business leaders from across the state together to present the importance of fixing our infrastructure to S.C. legislators.

The program also airs Sunday, June 29 at 1:00 p.m. on ETV; Sunday, June 29 at 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 1 at 5:00 p.m. on ETV World; and Thursday, July 3 at 8:00 p.m. on the South Carolina Channel.   After the first broadcast, the program will also be available online at scetv.org/palmettoscene.
