John Carol Seawright, Jr.

EDGEFILED, S.C. – John Carol Seawright, Jr., of Edgefield, entered into rest on June 26, 2014, at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Funeral services will be at 2 P.M., Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Antioch Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

John Carol Seawright, Jr. was born on March 4, 1927, in Olathe, Kansas. He was the oldest son of eight children of the late Claudia Bell and John Carol Seawright Sr. He was an active farmer and retired from Southern States in Johnston, SC. He was a life-long Presbyterian. He served in the United States Marines during World War II. He also served 50 years as a Mason for Concordia Lodge # 50.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jewel Smith Seawright and four children: Mary Wade of Edgefield, SC; Judy Hope (Marion) of Columbia, SC; John Seawright (Charlotte Ann) of Edgefield, SC; and Lynn Visbisky (Robert) of Aiken, SC. He leaves six grandchildren: Anna Wade, Graham Hope, James and Grace Seawright, and John and Caroline Visbisky; and sisters: Dorothy Padgett of Trenton, SC; Margaret Walters of Ohio; Virginia Brook of Charleston, SC; and Joan Moody of Edgefield, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Betty Momeier and Evelyn McKnight, and brother, Williams Seawright.

Memorials may be made to Families Feeding Families Fund at Antioch Baptist Church at 1843 Hwy 23 West Edgefield, SC 29824 or the Westside Community Center at 30 Old Five Notch Rd. Edgefield, SC 29824.

The family is at the home and will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
