Lawn Equipment, Guns, and Electronics Targets in Recent Thefts

Lawn equipment, guns, and electronics were the targets of thieves in three separate incidents recently reported to the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office. In the first incident, a Kubota lawn mower valued at over $5000 was stolen from a residence on Capers Drive in North Augusta (Edgefield County) sometime between Tuesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 29. The orange mower was kept in an open garage on the property according to a report filed with the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, May 30, the ECSO responded to a home on Youngblood Road in reference to a burglary. In this incident, the victim stated he returned home to find his back door open. After an ECSO deputy cleared the scene, it was determined that two televisions, a 20” flat screen and a 51” flat screen, as well as a 12 gauge shot gun were stolen from the home. In all, the items were estimated to be worth $1250.

A third theft, this time a case of breaking and entering into an automobile, was reported Saturday, May 31, at a location on Lee Street in Johnston. According to the ECSO report, the victim stated he was inside the Johnston Sports Club for about thirty minutes. However, he stated that when he returned to his vehicle, he found that a firearm and cell phone were missing from his truck. The truck was left unlocked and there was no damage reported to the vehicle.
