Execution of Search Warrant Leads to Drug Charges

The culmination of a criminal investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant by the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office and the Edgefield Police Department at a home on Silverbell Street, Thursday, June 26.  According to the ECSO report, the subject of the investigation, a 27 year old black male who was a resident of the home, tried to exit the residence via the back door when law enforcement officials arrived on the scene to execute the search warrant.  However, he was met and secured by law enforcement personnel and was placed under arrest for distribution of marijuana.

Upon searching the home, law enforcement found a cigar containing a green leafy plant substance, two plastic bags each containing a green leafy substance, a plastic bag containing a white powder substance, and a digital scale.  All items were collected as evidence.  The white powdery substance will be sent to the SC Law Enforcement Division for final analysis.  The ECSO will conduct the analysis on the green leafy substances.  Due to the items found as a result of the search of this home, additional charges of possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute cocaine are forthcoming.  The suspect in this case was taken to the Edgefield County Detention Center without incident, and this investigation into this matter is ongoing.
