Students Love Clemson and are Among Nation’s Happiest

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson University students love their school and are among the happiest college students in the nation, according to The Princeton Review.

In its new “The best 379 Colleges,” 2015 edition, the organization used student surveys to rank Clemson No. 1 among U.S. colleges in “Town-gown relations are great.” It is the fourth year it has been honored with this recognition, earning the category’s top ranking in the publication’s 2011, 2012 and 2014 editions.

Clemson was ranked No. 2 nationally in:

  • Their students love these colleges
  • Students pack the stadiums
  • Everybody plays intramural sports
  • Jock schools

Clemson also is ranked highly in other categories in the annual edition:

  • Third: Happiest students
  • Fifth: Best career services
  • 12th: Most conservative students
  • 14th: Most religious students
  • 16th: Future Rotarians and Daughters of the American Revolution

According to The Princeton Review, Clemson is one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education.

“We certainly feel that we are, indeed, the right fit for the top students in the Carolinas and across the nation,” said Robert Barkley, Clemson University’s director of admissions. “It is such an honor to not only be recognized for our academics, as we consistently are, but also for the community and competitive spirit that our students bring to — and have for — Clemson University and the City of Clemson. The passion and excitement our students have for academics and student life is unmatched.”

Only about 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges and only four colleges outside the United States are profiled in the book, which is The Princeton Review’s flagship college guide. It includes detailed profiles of the colleges with rating scores for all schools in eight categories plus ranking lists of top 20 schools in the book in 62 categories based on The Princeton Review’s surveys of 130,000 students attending the colleges.

In Clemson’s profile, the book states, “with its Southern charm, competitive Division I athletics, and Greek life, Clemson will be an ideal fit for many types of students. But don’t think that Clemson doesn’t take its academics seriously. Admissions are competitive, and a good GPA and test scores will be needed for all who apply.”
