Raymond Tidwell Timmerman, Jr.

EDGEFIELD, S.C. – Mr. Raymond Tidwell Timmerman Jr, 86, husband of Mary Elizabeth Watkins Timmerman for 63 years, died Monday, May 18, 2015, at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11 AM at Edgefield First Baptist Church will burial at Eastview Cemetery.

Mr. Timmerman was a native of Edgefield, SC and was a member of Edgefield First Baptist Church. He was a retired Brigadier General with the SC National Guard as a personnel manager. He was a charter member of the Palmetto Military Hall of Fame. He received the Legion of Merit, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the United States Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.

After Retirement, Mr. Timmerman ran Timmerman Antiques in Edgefield and volunteered with the Old Edgefield Genealogical Society. He was an avid collector of Edgefield and Southern pottery.

Survivors include his wife, 2 daughters, Emily Quattlebaum and Wanda Timmerman, and 1 son, Danny (Deborah) Timmerman. He had 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a special canine friend Beau.

Family is at the home on Highland Avenue in Edgefield and will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 7pm and Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.
