Fall Meeting of the Historical Society to Feature Holly Hill

Holly-HillThe Fall Meeting of the Edgefield County Historical Society will be held on Sunday afternoon November 8, 2015 at 3:30 pm at Holly Hill, the home of Tim & Julie Prince on Gray Street in Edgefield. Holly Hill is believed to be the oldest house in the Town of Edgefield and probably in Edgefield County. The core of the house was probably built in the late 1760s or the early 1770s by the James Robeson family. It has been owned by a number of prominent families over the nearly two hundred and fifty years since and has a rich and varied history. A booklet, The Story of Holly Hill, has been written for the occasion and will be available at the ceremony. As part of the program, a South Carolina Historical Marker for Holly Hill will be unveiled. Following the program, a reception will be hosted by Mr. & Mrs. Prince and tours of the house will be offered.

This meeting is open only to members of the Edgefield County Historical Society and to other invited guests.
