Merchants Beware! Counterfeit Money Again in County

According to a report filed with the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, Wednesday, Nov. 14, two counterfeit $100 bills were tendered on two different occasions at the McDonald’s on Augusta Road in Edgefield. Alledgedly, an employee with the establishment made two separate purchases at the location in which she paid for items each time with a $100 bill, each of which was later discovered to be fake. The ruse was caught on the restaurant’s surveillance video and was discovered by aid of a counterfeit detection pen. The counterfeit money has been turned over to the ECSO. The investigation into this matter continues.
