Black History Series: Lectures will be held at Macedonia Community Center at 10 a.m. each Saturday in February. The program is free to the public.

Soup, Sandwich and Smiles: Edgefield United Methodist Church invites everyone to their church at the corner of Bacon and Norris Streets (across from the Post Office) to enjoy soup, sandwiches and smiles with them every Thursday at noon in February. Dates are February 14, 21 and 28.

Camellia Tea: The Edgefield Camellia Club will sponsor the Camellia Tea, Thurs., Feb. 14, at Magnolia Dale in Edgefield form 3-5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Call 637-2370 for more information.

Musical Program: Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Gospel Choir in Johnston is having their musical program Saturday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m. The public is invited. Rev. Lewis Burt is pastor.

Pastoral Appreciation Sunday: Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Edgefield, will honor their pastor, Rev. Oscar W. Brown on his 4th Pastoral Appreciation, Sunday, Feb. 17,at 2:30 p.m. Rev. T.C. Edwards and Friendship Baptist Church of Aiken will be charge of the service.

Recreation Committee Meeting: The Countywide Recreation Committee has a scheduled meeting set for Monday, February 18, in the County Council Chambers, 225 Jeter Street, Edgefield.  Meeting will begin at 6:30PM

Hair and Fashion Show: STHS Cafeteria, Saturday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. ($5 advance, $7 at the door); sponsored by Career Center’s Cosmetology Dpt., Call Mrs. Jackie Kennion at 275-1767 for more info.

Black History Program: Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Johnston is having their annual Black History Program Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. Rev. Inez Kemp of Bethlehem Baptist Church will be the guest speaker. The public is invited.

Yard Sale: Harmony United Methodist Church Mission Committee will hold a giant  yard sale, Sat., Mar 2, beginning at 6  a.m. at the Fellowship hall next to the church. If you have items to contribute call 275-4885 for pickup or delivery or more info. An EZ Go Golf Cart will be sold by sealed bids with minimum bid of $1,000.

Mass Choir Rehearsals: Edgefield County Mass Choir will practice every Monday at 7 p.m. at Macedonia Church, Macedonia St., Edgefield. Everyone is welcome. A performance will be held March 2 at 5 p.m. at Strom Thurmond High School to celebrate Black History. For more info call 803-439-0881.

Chorus Anniversary: Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Johnston, Male Chorus is having their anniversary March 3, at 4 p.m. The public is invited. Rev. Lewis Burt is the pastor.

Shamrock Run/Walk: Edgefield’s Annual Shamrock Run/Walk will be held Saturday March 16, in memory of Dr. Ned Nicholson and Dr. W.G.”Curly” Watson. Race forms are available at the Town of Edgefield, Escape Day Spa and the Town of Edgefield website.

Pastor’s Appreciation: Republication Grove Baptist Church will honor their pastor, Rev. Willie Patten on his 12th Pastoral Appreciation Sunday, March 17 at 11 a.m. Rev. Johnny Clark, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, will be the guest minister. Everyone is invited to share in this joyous occasion. 

Beauty Pageant:  Johnston Miss Peach Blossom Festival beauty pageant will be held on Saturday, April 6, at Johnston Elementary School at 10:00 and 3:00. Young ladies between the ages of birth-20 are invited to compete. The Miss (17-20) will be awarded a scholarship to the college of her choice. The deadline for applications is Wed., March 27.
