Friends of the Library: (FOL) wants your support to enhance Library services.  Join us for a tax-deductible $25, dropped off at the Library anytime between now and May 31.  We meet at the Library every third Thursday of the month at 5PM. Join now and be entered into a raffle to be drawn at the end of May for a book-related gift!  We do good work – like the new Dot Mims Children’s Area!  $25 single, $50 family, $5 student, $100 sponsor, $250 patron, $1000 business.

Revival: Pleasant Grove Baptist Church; Tues., May 14 at 7 p.m. with Rev. Edward Lloyd; Wed., May 15, at 7 p.m. with Rev. Reginald Grimes; Thurs., May 16, 7 p.m.  with Rev. Andrew Jones and Sun., May 19 with Rev. Johnny Clark at 11 a.m.

Wounded Warriors: Will be visiting Edgefield the morning of May 16, around 11:00.  They will drive from Augusta to the square and then to the National Wild Turkey Federation for entertainment and lunch.  Citizens may wish to greet them on the square.

BBQ Chicken Sale: Edgefield Boy Scout Troop 30 will have a BBQ sale on Sat., May 18 from 11-2(plates $7/whole chicken $8) Tickets are on sale in Edgefield at NAPA, Pendarvis, Edgefield Fuel, Turkey Shoppe and Crouch Hardware; in Johnston at Maxwell & Halford, Shell, Monk’s Corner and D.J.’s Corner Cuts.

Tractor Show: Palmetto Tractor Club Show in Ridge Spring, Sat., May 18, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; featuring antique tractors, old farm machinery, parade of tractors and trucks,racing lawn mowers, and more; for more info call Randy at 864-445-2042; Joney at 803-957-8319 or Edgar at 803-480-0187.

 BBQ: Johnston Methodist Church will have their Annual Barbecue on Saturday, May 18Pork or Chicken will be offered for $7 per plate which includes Slaw/Baked Beans/Bread.  Eat-in or take-out from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Tickets may be purchased from any member or the church office (275-4885).

A Tasting Fundraiser: American Legion Post #30 will sponsor a fundraiser,”taste up to 25 different dishes” Advance Tickets only, $10 Sat., May 18, 7 p.m. at the American Legion, Penn St. Edgefield, Call 637-9367  for tickets.

Homecoming: Johnston Pentecostal Holiness Church will have homecoming Sunday, May 19 at 11 a.m. featuring the musical group, “Sonrise.” The public is cordially invited.

Church Anniversary: Science Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 5 Rock Rd., Trenton, will celebrate their 145th anniversary, Sunday, May 26, beginning with Sunday School at 9 a.m. Rev. Calvin Robinson will bring the message. Rev. Lorenzo Williams is the pastor.

100 Women in White & 100 Men in Black: Republican Grove Baptist Church, 276 Gary Hill Road, Edgefield, invites everyone to their 100 Women in White & 100 Men in Black Program on Sunday, May 26, at 2 p.m. with guest minister, Rev. Hodges Bush and special guest Edgefield Community Mass Choir.
