Town Hall Meeting: Sen. Shane Massey will hold a town hall meeting on Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Edgefield County Council Chambers, 6 -7:30 p.m.  Senator Massey will provide an update on the 2013 session of the General Assembly, look ahead to the 2014 session, and answer questions.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Women’s Conference: Republican Grove Baptist Church, 276 Gary Hill Road, Edgefield, will hold their annual Women’s Conference on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. The pubic is invited. Rev. Willie Patten, Jr. is pastor.

Freedom Fund Banquet: Edgefield Branch of the NAACP will hold its Freedom Fund Banquet, Saturday, Oct. 26, at 6:00 PM in the Collins Building on the Bettis Academy campus. Speaker will be Rev. Walter Strawther, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, Aiken, SC.

Family & Friends Program: Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Hwy. 25 North, Edgefield, Rev. Oscar Brown, pastor; Oct. 27, at 11 a.m.; Rev. Winston Oliphant and Rosa Spring Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. Public is invited. Dress is casual.

Burton Center: Burton Center Board for Disabilities and Special Needs will meet Oct. 28, at noon in the Training Room. Burton Center is located at 2605 Hwy. 72 – 221 East, Greenwood.

First Annual Trunk or Treat: Oct. 31, 3 Pecan Park (off Hwy 23 across from BiLo); 6:30pm-8:30 pm; Free to the public; no gory or scary costumes, please. Registration form necessary and prize for best decorated vehicle. Sponsored by Women in Unity. To donate or for info, call 803-637-2010.

Democratic Party Training: The Edgefield County Democratic Party will hold a training session conducted by Mr. Willie Bright on Nov. 2, at 8:30 a.m. at the Community Center on Macedonia Street. All interested persons are urged to attend. For more info call Mr. Bright at 275-8000.

Red Oak Grove Baptist church: will hold their annual Fall Festival on November 2, from 2 to 5 p.m.  Food, fun and fellowship.  Come join us.

Pastor Anniversary: Freedom Temple Church of God will celebrate their Pastor Hodges Bush’s  Anniversary on Nov. 3, at 3 p.m. with guest minister Ronald McFadden. The public is invited.

Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer: The Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer will be held Monday, November 4, 6 pm at the Edgefield First Baptist Church. Women throughout the United States and around the world will be uniting in prayer. We invite men and women of ALL denominations to come join us in prayer for our country and the world.

Oyster Roast: Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce will hold an oyster roast, Nov. 9, at 5 p.m. in the Johnston Municipal Parking Lot. The roast will benefit Fox Creek, Strom Thurmond High, and Wardlaw Academy. Tickets are being sold at First Citizens Banks, Regions Bank, SRP Federal Credit Union, Turkey Shoppe and the Chamber.

Veterans Day Program: This year’s Veterans Day program will be hosted by Edgefield Post 6932 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in the town square on November 11th at 3:00 p.m. There will be entertainment, singing and a chance to celebrate with our veterans.  Come join us there.

Shopping Trip: Macedonia Baptist Church in Edgefield is sponsoring a shopping trip to Charleston on Nov. 30. All seats are $30. Bus     will leave Piedmont Tech at 6 a.m. For more info contact Wallatte Phillips at 637-5989. Money is due by Nov. 1.
