S.C. Offers Free Identity Theft Protection with CSID
  • As Contract with Experian Expires

 – By Tiffani Ireland –

The contract that South Carolina had negotiated with Experian for one year of free credit protection has expired.  However, free protection is still available to SC taxpayers whose personal information was compromised as a result of the 2012 hacking of SC tax records.  CSID, a Texas based company, will now provide this protection.

This service is being offered to SC taxpayers, their dependants, and businesses that filed electronic SC tax returns between 1998 and 2012.

Enrollment with CSID’s program began Oct. 24 and will continue through Oct. 1, 2014. To enroll in the program, visit the company’s website at www.csid.com or call their toll free number at 855-89-CSID (2743).
