Memorial Day Service: A Memorial Day Service will be held on the Edgefield Town Square, Monday, May 26, at 10 a.m. Penny Hunt will be the guest speaker. Make plans to attend to remember our deceased members of the military.

Storytime: The Edgefield County Library announces that Storytime will be held Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m in Edgefield.  Each Tuesday morning, Miranda the story lady, will have stories to present to all interested children. Children must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Storytime will be approximately a half hour in length.  See you all there in the library! For more info call 637-4025.

Summer Reading Program: Edgefield County Public Library and the Johnston Branch will start registration for the Summer Reading Program on May 22.  This program runs through the summer and  ends with a Summer Reading Party celebration.

Edgefield Farmers and Artisans Market: Town Square, every Saturday until November from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Plants, vegetables, fresh eggs, crafts and more. Vendors welcome. Info: 706-631-5564.

Low Cost Spay/Neuter:  The SPCA is offering a low cost spay/neuter program to Edgefield County residents.  Fees as low as $15 for those who qualify.  Call 803-648-6863 ext.1 or visit www.LetLoveLive.org for more information.

Annual Poppy Distribution:  The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 30 will be distributing poppies and collecting contributions to help with the needs of American veterans May 23 & 24.  Ladies with their poppies may be found at Bi-Lo, in front of the Edgefield Library, and walking around the town of Edgefield.

GOP Meeting:The Edgefield County GOP meeting is Tuesday, May 27, at the Edgefield County Council Chambers, 225 Jeter Street in Edgefield (behind the Courthouse).  The meeting will be at 7:00 pm with a social before that at 6:30 pm.  We hope to see you there.

Chicken Plate Sale: Johnston Pentecostal Holiness Church will have a chicken plate sale Sat., May 31 at 11 a.m. (half bbq chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, and bread). Eat in or take out and cost is $7.

Women’s Conference: Mt. Canaan’s Women’s Auxiliary Women’s Conference “Order My Steps” will be held Sat., May 31. Fee is $15 which includes conference and lunch.
