Children’s Books Wanted: Edgefield County Public Library is collecting old/used children’s books for a book sale to benefit the Friends of the Library.  If cleaning out closets and shelves is on anyone’s New Year’s Resolution list, now is the time to bring book donations – especially children’s books – to the library.

Mau Hiring Event: Instant interview hiring event Thursday, Jan. 29, form 9-11 a.m. at 109 W. Augusta St., McCormick. Looking to fill laser operators and inspector positions at Milliken in McCormick. Bring resume and paper applications will be available.

Chili Supper at the Library:  Meeting: Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 5 p.m. the Library Board will host Edgefield County Council and Edgefield Town Council for the traditional chili supper.

Bags of Love: The Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce and Senior Citizens Council will sponsor Bags of Love for Seniors. Bring bags or monetary donations to ECCC, 416 Calhoun St., Johnston by 12:30, Fri., Feb. 6. Bags will be delivered by Meals on Wheels on Valentine’s Day.(Items you might include : Valentine card, comb, tissue, soap, books, toothpaste, toothbrush, magnifying glass, band-aids, hand lotion, blankets, cotton balls, sugar-free candy, wash cloths.

The Edgefield Advertiser will be giving away NEW subscriptions at half price on February 11, in the office at 117 Courthouse Square, from 9-2:00. Also renewals will be $5 off regular price. See ad in this week’s paper. The Advertiser recognizes that the HERE and THERE column is for Not-for-profit notices. However, since the paper will be losing its profit that day, we could be considered non profit. But to stay within our advertising boundaries, we offer this notice “under the line” of HERE and THERE.

Camellia Tea: The 2015 Camellia Tea is scheduled for Thursday, February 12, 3:00 to 5:30, at Magnolia Dale, 200 Norris Street, Edgefield.

Annual Pancake Supper: The Episcopal Church of the Ridge will again host this event on Tuesday, February 17, from 6:00 pm. – 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Parish Hall in Edgefield.  Admission is $4.00 per person and “carry-out” plates will be available. The public is invited.
