Freedom Fund Banquet: The Edgefield Branch of the NAACP will host its annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday, February 28, 6:00 PM at the Collins Building on Bettis Academy Campus. BBQ Chicken Sale: Johnston Pentecostal Holiness Church will have a BBQ chicken plate sale on Saturday, March 7, at 11 a.m. $7 for ½ chicken, potato salad, cole slaw and bread.

Edgefield County Mass Choir: Gospel concert with voices from churches around the County.  Saturday, March 7, at 5 p.m., JET Middle School. A celebration of their 2nd Anniversary and Black History. Everyone welcome, Admission is free.

Wild Game Supper: Sweetwater Baptist Church will host the 9th annual Wild Game Supper on Saturday, March 7, at 5 p.m. Featured will be Jimmy Sites, Joe and Kim Stanley and for the children Dan the Animal Man. Cook-Off: The Old Macedonia Community Improvement Group will be sponsoring its annual All-Male-Cook-off on Saturday, March 7, at 6 PM. The event will be hosted at the Old Macedonia Enrichment Center, 200 Macedonia Road, North Augusta. The cook-off is held to support the 21st Century After-School Program that serves nearly 80 Edgefield County children in grades K-5 at Douglas Elementary . GOP Meeting: The Edgefield County GOP will meet Tuesday, March 10, at the Edgefield County Council Chambers located at 225 Jeter Street in Edgefield (behind the Courthouse).  We will be conducting precinct business at this meeting as well as talking about regular business.  Meeting will start at 7:00 pm with a social before that at 6:30 pm.

Shamrock Run/ Walk – Oyster Roast: The Town of Edgefield and the Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce will host the 9th annual Shamrock Run/Walk and Oyster Roast on Saturday, March 14. Women in Unity Fundraising:A Souvenir Booklet will be published and businesses and individuals are asked to buy ads to support the endeavor by March 11. Books will be distributed at The Women in Unity Banquet on March 28. For more information call 637-2010.

Pastor’s Appreciation: Republican Grove Baptist Church will honor their pastor, Rev. Willie Patten, Jr. on his 14th Pastoral Appreciation Sunday, March 15, at 11 a.m. Rev. Donald Bookard of Welcome Travelers Baptist Church will be the guest minister. Everyone is invited.

Women Mission Ministry: The Women Mission Ministry of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Edgefield will be celebrating their 20th anniversary on Sunday, March 22, at 3 p.m. Rev. Dr. Danny R.Web of Old Mt. Pageant: Johnston Peach Blossom Festival beauty pageant will be held on Saturday, March 28 at the Johnston Elementary School Gymnasium at 10:00 and 3:00. Young ladies between the ages of birth-20 are invited to compete. The Miss (17-20) will be awarded a scholarship to the college of her choice. The deadline for applications is March 18.
