Deaths in Fatal Fire Determined Double Homicide

The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the two victims of the fatal fire that occurred Sunday afternoon, Oct. 9, on Marigold Street in Edgefield were murdered.  Autopsy results showed that 32 years old Charles Deas and his wife, 25 years old Andrea Deas, residents of the home, each died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.  Their bodies, along with the bodies of four large breed dogs, were discovered Sunday after fire fighters responded to the home for what Edgefield Fire Department Chief Roger Ellis described to The Advertiser as a “fully involved” fire.

A spokesperson with the ECSO told The Advertiser in an interview, Wednesday, Oct. 12, that the Sheriff’s Office has been “gaining leads” since the incident and that they have been working diligently to follow-up on them all.  Evidence was collected from the scene and is being processed.  Anyone with information pertaining to this crime is asked to call the ECSO at 637-5337.  Callers may remain anonymous.
