The SC FFA Honorary State FFA Degree is the highest honorary degree the FFA association can award, and it is presented at the Annual State FFA Convention. The purpose of the degree program is to recognize individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the state agricultural education program. Chalmers and Lori Anne Carr, owners of Titan Farms in Ridge Spring, SC, were nominated by the Thurmond FFA chapter. The degree recipients were treated to an Honorary Degree Awards banquet in the President’s Box at Clemson University and then presented an award at the recent State FFA Convention held at Clemson University.
Chalmers and Lori Anne Carr have had such a positive influence on the Thurmond FFA Chapter and the SC FFA by being so generous and supportive of the agriculture industry and FFA. On the chapter/local level they have provided 10+ jobs for our FFA members, research opportunities for the FFA members, financial supportive in various amounts, presentations for the local Young Farmer Chapter, equipment and material donations, project opportunities for the FFA members, and much more. On the state level they have made donations through events such as: peaches for various events, $500 scholarship for the Miss FFA Pageant, tours of their farm for different FFA chapters, tours and guest speakers for various Young Farmer Groups and more. They are excellent examples to the state of how hard work and dedication in the field of Agriculture pays off.
