“Early” Announcement from Energy Group

Will Bring Jobs to Edgefield County

The announcement of the Atlanta-based Enova Energy Group with plans to open a $110 million wood pellet-processing plant near Trenton, for the manufacture of fuel for export overseas, came, not from Edgefield County Government (the usual source), but from the Company itself.

According to Will Williams, Director of The Economic Development partnership between Aiken County and Edgefield County, “There is much due diligence that has to take place before construction can begin.”

This Enova Energy Group announcement was in a daily newspaper, The Augusta Chronicle, on Tuesday morning.

Williams, speaking for the partnership which seeks manufacturing development for Edgefield county, stated, “We have been working with this company for a number of months and wish to continue to do so to understand their needs.” According to Williams, this was an “early” announcement and unexpected.

The press release stated that this new plant would create 60-70 permanent jobs, with the requirement of 100-150 acres.
