Columbia, S.C. – The Carolina Gamecocks will battle the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday, October 6, but fans can enjoy a different kind of battle before the game. The South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) is hosting the Certified SC Grown Tailgate at Gamecock Village on Bluff Road in Columbia. The free tailgate starts at 4 p.m. Just look for the green and white tent.
Celebrity chefs, Matt and Ted Lee, the Lee Bros., are challenging each other in a hot dog cook- off with toppings made from Certified South Carolina produce and products. Fans will have the chance to “Devour the Dogs” and vote on their favorite hot dog style.
Tailgate goers will also gear up for the game with chicken wings, grilled pork loin, boiled peanuts, sweet potato fries, collard dip and peach cobbler – all Certified South Carolina!
“We are fortunate in South Carolina to have top-ranked football, food and farming. We want football fans of all of our great teams to know how easy it is to use Certified SC Grown produce and products to create winning tailgates and other celebrations,” said South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers.
Certified SC Grown is branding designed to help consumers easily identify and recognize produce grown in South Carolina as well as products made in the state. For more information on Certified SC Grown visit www.agriculture.sc.gov.
