The Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce is planning to host our Third Annual Oyster Roast on March 9th in downtown Edgefield, SC. This year we are planning on adding a Chili Cook-Off to the festivities. Oyster Roast/Chili Cook Off profits will support our “Fill-A-Bus” Back to School Supply Drive in memory of our friend, Sandra Friar.
The Oyster Roast was very well received last year and promises growth this year! The event will start around 1:00 p.m. and we’ll wrap up around 3:00 p.m., when the oysters run out, or everyone has had enough fun.
In case of rain, the event will be moved to the National Wild Turkey Federation Pavilion, 770 Augusta Road, Edgefield, SC or the warehouse building on Calhoun Street in Johnston, SC, across from the Chamber office.
Here’s where we need your help! The Chamber would like to ask you to support the event through a sponsorship helping us put more supplies in classrooms throughout Edgefield County. Last year we were able to purchase school supplies for 150 classrooms in 8 schools in Edgefield County. This year we hope to increase that number to 175.
About the Event: Oyster Roast with all the trimmings and for those who don’t want oysters, we’ll offer hot dogs and chili, potato chips, sweets and more. Also, bowls of Chili from the cook off will be available. We’ll also provide beer (limit of 3 tickets per person), soft drinks & water during the event. Oyster Roast tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the door, and $15 advance, $20.00 at the door for children 12 and under.

Any donation or support you can provide for this event is greatly appreciated and very helpful. Each year, Chamber members play a huge role in helping the youth of Edgefield County. Often, school teachers’ budgets fall short of what they need to provide classroom supplies for students. To help curb this shortfall, the Chamber partners with the Edgefield County School District and uses all the profits from this event to improve the educational experiences for our county’s students by purchasing school supplies to fill the void and help students attain the knowledge and skills they deserve.

Tickets can be purchased at Turkey Shoppe on Main, Edgefield Town Hall, Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce, SRP Federal Credit Union – Edgefield Branch or First Citizens Bank – Johnston, Edgefield or Ridge Spring branches. Deadline for advance tickets is March 1st, 2013, with a limited number of tickets at the door.
