Clarence C. “Buck” Bell

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. – Mr. Clarence C. “Buck” Bell, 95, of North Augusta, husband of Vera Sharpe Bell, died Sunday November 9, 2014 at his residence.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday November 11, 2014 at 2 P.M. at Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Eleazer Benenhaley officiating.

Mr. Bell was a native of Aiken, S.C. and was the son of the late Robert Franklin and Maggie Goss Bell. He was the grandson of the late Samuel and Lavenia Goss. He was a graduate of Wagner High School where he played football and baseball. Sergeant First Class Bell served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp in North Africa and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign during WW II. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve after WW II. Mr. Bell was recognized by the Augusta Richmond County Historical Society for his participation in the WW II Veteran History Project. A copy of his participation was sent to the Library of Congress in Washington, and to Augusta State University. He was a member of the American Legion in North Augusta and was retired from the Veteran’s Administration. Following retirement, Mr. Bell appointed by Governor’s Campbell and Beasley to serve on the Piedmont Multi-County Disabilities and Special Needs Board.

He was a founder and charter member of Ridgeview Church in North Augusta and also a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church. Mr. Bell served on the deacon board, Finance Committee, Royal Ambassadors, and a member of the Joy Choir. Mr. Bell was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, 1 son- Mark F. Bell; 1 Daughter- Gloria Stone; 1 Grandson- Jason Stone. 1 brother- Melvin Youngblood. Mr. Bell was predeceased by sisters Lavenia Kramer, Anna Platts, Connie Bell, and a brother Robert F. Bell, Jr.

Memorials may be made to Christ Central in Aiken, S.C., friends of the Israeli Defense Forces Wounded Warrior Project, or the Piedmont Multi-County Disabilities and Special Needs Board.
