Homeowner Thwarts Attempted Burglary

A resident of Reynolds Drive in Trenton returned home Tuesday, June 30, 2015 to find several men allegedly trying to burglarize his home. According to an Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office report on the matter, the man returned home at about nine in the morning to see a red Ford Mustang with a tan top in his driveway. After spying the vehicle, the resident then saw a black male run down the driveway to the rear of the home. The suspect yelled into the home, at which time, two other black males and a white male came running out of the house. All suspects ran to the parked Mustang in which they fled the scene.

Before entering the home, the resident called law enforcement. Deputies with the ECSO arrived on the scene and cleared the home. No items were reported taken, but evidence suggests the suspects were attempting to steal the resident’s shoes when they were discovered. Several chairs were knocked over, and there were broken items in the home as well. Deputies searched the surrounding area for the vehicle but were unable to locate it. However, evidence was collected from the scene.

The Mustang was last seen on Hwy 121 headed towards Johnston. Additionally, one of the suspects was last seen wearing a red shirt and green pants. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the ECSO as they are continuing to investigate this matter.
