Born on October 4, 1926 in Saluda, S.C., she was the daughter of the late John F. and Bertha Hipp Herlong. Doe moved to Johnston at the age of 19, where she worked in banking for 40 years. During her career, Doe held several positions and always enjoyed her customers! In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard, feeding and watching birds, listening to music, and reading. She was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Johnston.

Doe is survived by her daughters, Linda (Col. George, USAF Ret) Berberich of San Antonio, Texas, and Dr. Cynthia (Rhonda Coker) Forrest of Columbia. She is also survived by brothers, Lowell (Bobby) Herlong and Johnny Herlong of Saluda and by her sister, Peggy (Ted) DeHart of North Augusta. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, LaFonde Lindler of Saluda. In addition to her parents, Doe is predeceased by sisters Frances H. Wright and Dolly H. Lindler, and by sister-in-law Helen Herlong and brother-in-law James Wright.

Doe’s life was enriched by her dear friends, Betty Jean Taylor, Goldie Dean, and Dorothy Baughcome. Lisa Bell and Lula Stevens were also devoted friends/caregivers. She is also survived by her granddogs, Ruby, Woodrow, Brickle, and Foxy.

Doe was surrounded by a community of people who loved and cared for her. We especially want to acknowledge Lisa and Lula for their loving care and support; Mrs. Betty Bland and Bland Funeral Home for their compassionate care and Maxwell and Halford Drug Store for their kind and professional attention to her. In addition, we want to thank Caris Hospice and all the many other friends who called, sent cards, and offered unconditional support and prayers to us during this time
