Shooting/Home Invasion in Johnston

The Johnston Police Department responded to a shooting call in the vicinity of the May Street Apartments, Monday night, March 7, around 10:00.  According to JPD Officer James Mosley, who spoke with The Advertiser regarding the incident, JPD and the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of what turned out to be a home invasion although the victim did not live at the home.  The victim was given as a man in his mid-30s.  At least 2 shots were fired within the home by an unidentified suspect.  An undetermined amount of shots were also fired outside the home and down the surrounding streets as the suspect fired his weapon at the fleeing victim.  The victim did sustain a laceration to the forehead.  However, his injury was not due to gun fire but rather was received as he escaped from the home through a window.  He was treated at Edgefield County Hospital’s emergency room for his non-life threatening injuries.

Officer Mosley stated that at this time, there are no leads or identified suspects in this crime.  Additionally, there was no description available for the suspect.  The investigation, however, is ongoing and is being handle by JPD.  Anyone with possible information related to this case is asked to call the Johnston Police at 275-2488.
