BARBARA DARRACOTT

Barbara Chestnut Darracott passed peacefully on February 21, 2021 at the age of 79. Although she resided in Johnston, SC, she was originally from Conway, S.C. 

She was the devoted wife of Frank W. Darracott, III and the beloved mother of a daughter, Ashlea Darracott and a son, Frank W. Darracott, IV “Deke”. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Francis A. Clark, III “Meyers”, Cecilia Darracott and Tess Darracott.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton Berkeley Chestnut and Ruth Church Chestnut, of Murrells Inlet, SC and a brother, Gene Berkeley Chestnut of Lexington, SC.

Barbara is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, Clemson University and Converse College. She dedicated her life to the welfare of others, working as a psychologist, student advocate and guardian ad litem.

She was the rock and anchor of her immediate and extended family. Barbara loved to laugh, greeted everyone with a smile and had a brilliant sense of humor. She will be deeply missed. However, for all that were fortunate enough to spend just a moment with her, she undoubtedly left a lasting impression.

The family is very grateful and want to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, Dr. James C. Thompson, Jr. and Dr. James Fuller.

A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
