Johnston, Getting into the Spirit of Fall

Johnston, Getting into the Spirit of Fall

The Town of Johnston (Mayor Culbreath and Town Council Members) along with The Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce are gearing up for the Fall Season and some Fall spirit in Johnston.  We are looking to spruce up the town with some positive and fun Scarecrow/Fall displays to make the  ”Peach Capital of the World” a place to come visit and shop.

We are looking for businesses/organizations to help us decorate the town for fall. (You don’t have to be from Johnston – anyone can help) Decorate a family-friendly Scarecrow/Fall display (depicting your business – ex: restaurant – chef; drug store – pharmacist, etc.) by the lamp pole in front/or close by to your business (humorous, loveable, whimsical, but not frightening or too scary).

ü Scarecrows should be mounted to a lamp post in front/or close by your building – or around the town at a place you choose (example: either red light, municipal parking lot area, block in front of the library, etc..)

ü Material must be firmly attached to scarecrow, so it can withstand the sun, wind and rain; zip ties or string – no metal or wire, please!

ü Town will furnish 1 (one) bale of hay for your use – just contact Donna @ Chamber for this

ü You may advertise group/business name; but please NO advertising or political statements

ü Parts of your scarecrow could be lost, stolen, or vandalized; so please do not put anything of value or great importance on your scarecrow

ü You take responsibility for your scarecrow and its pieces; so check it often for damages

ü Please know your scarecrow/fall display must not obstruct or impede the sidewalk or right of way.

We hope you will join in on the town spirit and join us in this family-friendly positive outlook for Johnston.  Your time and effort is greatly appreciated in helping bring more excitement and people to Johnston and Edgefield County in general.

Your Scarecrow/Fall display needs to be erected as quickly as you can, Fall season begins September 22nd.  And then, all materials need to be removed by you the first week of November as the town will begin its Christmas season decorating then.

Look for another decorating opportunity in early November.

Any questions or to let us know of your participation, contact Johnston Town Hall 803-275-2488 or Donna at the Chamber office 803-275-0010.

In town spirit,

Mayor Terrence Culbreath
