Governor Nikki Haley was at Johnston–Edgefield–Trenton Middle School. on Wednesday, October 2, at the invitation of Sen. Shane Massey. She came with a message for the students, who had prepared for her coming with a large poster, made by the art department, full of colorful images showing the excitement they felt around her visit. And her message was clear: Are you a Leader or Are you a Follower?
She was introduced by Principal Stephen Hampton who recognized her as the 116th Governor of S.C. “I would not be here if it were not for the request of Sen. Massey,” she claimed, and which drew applause. She immediately addressed the real subject for the students – bullying. She gave them ways to avoid being confronted by bullies, to whom to go, and a video on the subject underscored her message with prominent South Carolinians speaking on the subject.
It was an exciting visit for the students, who were able to be photographed with her.
The Governor made over 200 students and teachers happy by signing an autograph for each.
