Multiple Shots Fired on Eastview Road

The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of multiple discharging weapons on Eastview Road, Wednesday, June 9.  An ECSO report gives details two eyewitnesses were able to provide to law enforcement regarding the shoot out.  According to those two witnesses, several vehicles pulled up at a mobile home located on one of the lots at the locale.  About 15 minutes later, another group of men arrived and started arguing with one of the men already at the scene.  That man was observed walking away from the scene, but he then turned around and started running back toward the group with which he had been arguing, firing shots as he approached.  At this point, the other group of males started firing back.  The shooting lasted for about a minute, and then the groups got into their vehicles and fled the area.

Several nearby residences and a vehicle were struck during the shooting.  The ECSO was able to recover a total of 19 shell casings from the scene; 4 40mm and 15 9mm casings.  Two slugs were recovered from the inside of a residence.  One of those slugs penetrated the back door, hit the ceiling, and lodged in a kitchen cabinet.  The other was located to the left of the back door of the residence under a window.  A third slug was found under the back bedroom window of a second residence.  Two bullet holes were located in the side of a third home, and three bullet holes were found in yet a fourth home.  A black Ford Explorer, not associated with the shooting, was struck on the back passenger door.

The suspects in this shooting were described as black males and several have been identified as suspects in this case by the ECSO.  Additionally, descriptions of several vehicles involved in this incident were given.  Those vehicles include a white Ford Explorer with tinted windows, a rust colored Cutlass, a white bubble Caprice, a black Mercedes, a silver Honda, a white Chevy Trailblazer, a Chevy sedan, and a champagne colored Acura with chrome rims.

Along with the shell casing recovered, the ECSO was also able to obtain a video of the event from a witness who recorded it on a cell phone.  Besides the eye witnesses, several other residents reported hearing the gun shots but did not report seeing the shooting.  The investigation into this matter is continuing.
